Seven months, countless hours, and a lot of heart went into creating this commissioned masterpiece for Sara, a proud grandmother of seven.
It all started when I photographed Sara’s first grandchild. She asked if I could create something extraordinary—a portrait inspired by her love for A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. She dreamed of seeing her seven grandchildren brought together in a scene reminiscent of that iconic painting.
I eagerly said yes.
From there, the creative journey unfolded. I selected stunning fashion pieces from my client wardrobe to set the tone and photographed each grandchild individually (except for the two girls on the far right, who were photographed together) in five separate portrait sessions, months apart. Then, I meticulously composited each portrait into the custom background, adding artistic touches to create a cohesive and timeless image.
Three hours of work per subject session and over 20 hours of post-production on the final work of art.
It was a true labor of love—and Sara and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the final result.
This unexpected opportunity reminded me of the boundless potential within creative work. After 30 years as a portrait artist, I’m still growing, learning, and finding new ways to bring my clients’ dreams to life.
Thank you, Sara, for trusting me to create this heirloom piece that will be cherished for generations to come.
