A Mothers Unconditional Love

I’d like to share this story I read some time ago with you…
“It was a couple of days before Christmas and I was shopping at one of those large warehouse clubs like Costco, BJ’s or Sam’s club. I couldn’t help but notice how “un-Christmas” the atmosphere was…parents yelling at their kids to hurry up and don’t touch this or that…or worse, some kids were just being ignored and crying for attention. Civilized adults being rude to each other… and I remember thinking how pitiful it all was. I was in the store looking for a Wii – somebody told me they might be available there. I asked a clerk who very nicely told me I was out of luck – see I only had a vague idea of what a Wii is and no idea of how popular they were – making them scarce. Another “customer” heard me ask and after the clerk left he approached me and offered to sell me one – for $500. After talking to this “gentleman” – it turns out he somehow managed to buy 10 or so units and was just hanging out at this store to find people looking for these games so he could sell them one. He actually said things like “you’d better do this because I am your only hope” and “your kids will hate you if they don’t have a Wii on Christmas morning.” I suddenly felt really sad because I know for some people he was telling the truth.

On my way out I decided to get a hotdog special. That’s when I got the Christmas Spirit again. I was just looking around at all the
people hustling, bustling, ignoring, yelling, pushing, shoving and then I saw her and her little boy. At first, I didn’t take it all in – all I
noticed was this woman’s happy smile. And then I noticed her son was handicapped. He couldn’t sit up by himself very well. He couldn’t eat by
himself and when he had food in his mouth, it would come back out. But at first glance you wouldn’t know it. This Mom was using one hand to
hold him up. She was breaking his food into small bits and feeding it to him and wiping his mouth every few seconds. She did this while she was
eating her own lunch, whispering conversation to him and gently kissing his head now and then – and smiling both full of happiness and pride the
whole time. I found that amazing especially in contrast with what was surrounding them. They were most definitely in their own peaceful and
loving world. I watched them for a few minutes and reluctantly went on my way. Her love and peace had touched me, but I knew if I stayed longer and watched, they may have spotted me watching them and it could have made them uncomfortable or somehow taken away from their time there.

Now it’s nearly a year later and this is still on my mind – as it is everyday. I am more thankful for my kids and I am more at peace and
more accepting of things when they don’t work out the way I want. I try hard to be more gentle and kind towards others. I want to smile the way
I saw this woman smile. I want that peace and contentment. I want to be able to love unconditionally. I have heard that before – but it doesn’t
really have meaning until you see it.”

Reading this story about this mother with her child has made a difference in my life. I take nothing for granted and I treasure each and every day that I have with my loved one.

Well summer is almost over and the first day of school is nearly upon us.
Wow, what a wild ride summer has been. Everyone is looking healthy and tanned from summer and we know how you parents love the way the kids look right here at the end of the season.

Typically schools have a “picture day” early in the year and while sometimes the pictures look okay, more often than not they really don;t look good at all. I remember the first time school pictures came home of my son that were awful. I remember saying “oh my these look terrible” And I remember the hurt look on my sons face. You see, he didn’t understand that they looked so bad because of the photographer NOT because of him. He took it so personally. Well I supposed you can guess, I bought them all. And just like so many years after that – in the drawer they went. Never to be seen again.

Having your child photographed is a wonderful way to record the changes in his or her appearance from one year to the next. Record photographs are important too. Bridal Fever

Thousands of brides or soon to be brides attend as many bridal shows as they can work into their schedule just to learn all they can about planning the perfect wedding and buying the perfect dress, flowers, shoes, accessories, to find the right venue, DJ and photographer. It is sad that they will only receive a little bit of the information and they rarely receive information or advice they really NEED.

There is a lot that goes into planning a wedding. It is not something for the faint of heart. It can exhaust most and it can be very challenging just trying to sort it all out.

The beauty really can be lost in the “overlooked” details. We choose to specialize in creating images of people that capture all the inner beauty and hope of one individual to be displayed in homes to be treasured for a lifetime. We create fine art Bridal Portrait. We no longer do the wedding day coverage with the bridal image creation.

Ask 5 women who had wedding photography and a bridal images done when they got married. If you ask them where their wedding album is, they may not be able to tell you or it‘ll be “put away somewhere“. Or perhaps they hired a photographer who just sold them the DVD of their images and they were going to “get around” to making their own album – I’ll be I can guess what the response will probably be to that senerio.

But if you talk to a bride (or her mother) who had a bridal image created of them prior to the wedding day – It’s probably displayed proudly in someone’s home. And when their children are planning their own wedding that bridal image will still be displayed in someone’s home.

A bridal image is NOT the same as a wedding day image. Neither are the photographers who create them. Many photographers can learn to capture a wedding and can get some exciting and fun images of the day. But it takes a greater understanding of lighting, facial and body analysis, composition, environment and psychology to create a truly stunning bridal image that reflects who you are and how you want to be remembered in your wedding dress. A portrait that you’ll still love in 10 years, rather than something you might look at and say “what the heck was I thinking?”

Another misnomer is that if a photographer shoots more images he/she is a better photographer. Not true. Five images of the same pose with just a change in expression or some special treatment applied post production does not a better photographer make. It takes a truly talented and experienced photographer to show you fewer images that are ALL outstanding images than one who shows you 600 images with very little variety in them.

Not only is it okay to select a photographer who specialize in portraiture for your bridal image and a different photographer to capture your wedding it‘s one of the smartest things you can do. Do not be fooled by the wedding photographer who includes a bridal session in the coverage. It does not mean they are experts in portraiture. Get the best of both worlds as well as two different experiences by hiring different photographers for the two jobs.
